Killer Groove Records presents “King Of Beggars“, the third single from Electric Circus‘ upcoming album Rites, due for release on November 27 on limited-edition LP, CD digipack and digital formats. Album pre-orders are available at the following link: https://found.ee/ECRites. The single is out today on all digital platforms.
“King of Beggars” opens and closes with the ambient sounds of Porta Palazzo market in Turin, one of Europe’s largest and oldest open-air markets, immersing the listener in a vivid urban landscape. Voices, movement, the noise of a place that never stops moving.
The title pays tribute to Billy Waters, the historic busker, whose spirit runs through the track as a quiet nod to street performance and the life of the city’s margins.
The track slides immediately into a desert-psych soundscape, where a synthetic voice delivers mysterious, seemingly nonsensical lines over hypnotic rhythms and layered textures, pulling the listener further from the streets and closer to something dreamlike.
The track snaps back to reality at the end, marked by the sharp strike of a butcher’s knife on a cutting board. One sharp, dry cut that brings the listener back from a journey to the edges of the world.
Electric Circus are based in Turin. They released their debut album, Canicola, in 2018 and have toured the U.S. Scoring Contrecourant (2021), a documentary series shot in Senegal and Mali, led them to Sahel Roots, a duo from the north of the country. The two groups recorded On est ensemble (Mieruba, 2023) remotely between Turin and Bamako, each writing two pieces for the other to finish.
