Killer Groove Records presents “Ogres“, the second single from Electric Circus‘ upcoming album Rites, due for release on November 27 on limited-edition LP, CD digipack and digital formats. Album pre-orders are available starting from today at the following link: https://found.ee/ECRites. The single is out today on all digital platforms and also available as a limited-edition 7″ vinyl (500 copies worldwide).
The first piece conceived for the album, “Ogres” was completed only at the very end of the recording process, the result of an extended period of development and refinement. Elemental, relentless, and hypnotic, it is built around a deeply ritualistic sonic identity. Rooted in an Ethiopian pentatonic scale, the composition began as a bass and percussion ostinato evoking a martial march before evolving into a dense groove infused with psychedelic and trip-hop textures. Its obsessive rhythm summons a twilight bestiary of dark, menacing creatures, building toward a tension-filled climax before dissolving into a hazy, dreamlike finale that suggests awakening or re-emergence.
The single’s official video is hand-drawn frame by frame and blended with reworked underwater footage, creating a hybrid visual language where animation and live action merge into one another. Shot in black and white, it traces an introspective journey toward enlightenment and dissolution. It begins in the slumbering depths and moves through mysterious forces overwhelming waters, burning flames, a body that fragments and scatters until it discovers that every loss of self is merely the prelude to a greater form of existence.

Electric Circus are based in Turin. They released their debut album, Canicola, in 2018 and have toured the U.S. Scoring Contrecourant (2021), a documentary series shot in Senegal and Mali, led them to Sahel Roots, a duo from the north of the country. The two groups recorded On est ensemble (Mieruba, 2023) remotely between Turin and Bamako, each writing two pieces for the other to finish.
