“High Fever” is the first single taken from Rites, the band’s second studio album, set for release on November 27 on LP (limited edition), CD and digital.

“High Fever” maps the sonic territory of Electric Circus with unusual confidence: a vibrant crossroads where ’70s funk, afrobeat and psychedelic influences merge into an intense narrative, a sonic arc that progressively builds toward an immersive climax of synths and groove. Built around a hypnotic bass line born during a weekend of feverish creative delirium, the track unfolds as a continuous flow of energy and tension.
The groove, inspired by the funk tradition of The Meters, moves through syncopated accents with a locked-in precision, while a punchy and incisive horn section intertwines with the rhythmic fabric, establishing the track’s character from the opening bar. The arrangement gradually evolves into a deeper, more expansive dimension: dub delays and layered textures expand the sonic space, alternating with wah-wah guitars and a treated clavinet that recalls vintage atmospheres, grounded in the now.

The single comes with an official video inspired by dusty road movies and sun-soaked cinematic atmospheres. One by one, the musicians emerge from empty fields, forgotten crossroads and silent back roads, slowly gathering inside a drifting car headed toward the rehearsal room. Produced by Matteo Contin, Dario Omizzolo and Luca Rabellino and shot in the Piedmont countryside, the video blends split-screen visuals, raw live-session energy and a subtle sense of tension and irony.

Based in Turin, Italy, Electric Circus deliver a musical experience that blends funk groove, afrobeat, psychedelia and world music. Following a U.S. tour and several international collaborations, the group earned critical and audience acclaim with their debut album Canicola. Their artistic evolution led to On est ensemble, an EP created with Malian duo Sahel Roots, highlighting their deep affinity for African sounds and musical roots, weaving them together with funk, blues and psychedelic elements.
Building on these experiences, Electric Circus now channel all their influences into new compositions driven by a strong groove-oriented vision, built on a live, rhythm-first aesthetic that rewards repeated listening. The new album Rites, due out in 2026 via Killer Groove Records, brings together funk, afrobeat and psychedelia in an immersive musical experience built on a sound that is both multifaceted and cohesive, sharpening the band’s identity into something harder to ignore.

Killer Groove Records presents “Dune”, the third single from the upcoming self-titled debut album by Italian cinematic funk trio Atabasca, out on March 27 on limited-edition LP, CD digipack and digital formats, the latter featuring an exclusive bonus track. Album pre-orders are available HERE. The single is out today on all digital platforms.

Chosen as the opening piece of their first full-length work, “Dune” introduces the musical language and narrative approach of the album: essential yet evocative, open, suggesting rather than asserting, leaving listeners free to lose themselves in the sound. Over a shadowy, melancholic harmony, a whispered melody takes shape, fragile and suspended, guiding the listener through an intimate, rarefied soundscape. At a certain point the music drops away, making room for silence and imagination. It’s in this emptiness that “Dune” acts as an emotional springboard, inviting listeners to project their own ending, to complete the piece with their own sensibility.

“Dune” takes its name from a place dear and familiar to the instrumental trio a real space that becomes a metaphor for an interior landscape of waiting, movement, and transformation. The track serves as a threshold, an entry point into the band’s sonic universe, anticipating their artistic vision.

The single drops with an official video: A journey through landscapes, where film and digital images coexist as two ways of looking at the same path, without hierarchy. Music accompanies the movement and shapes the rhythm of the story, letting places speak for what they are. What emerges is a simple, continuous narrative composed of crossings, pauses, and details, where landscape and sound remain attuned to one another.

“Make It Reggay” kicks off the band’s explosive comeback and serves as the first single from their highly anticipated second studio album, Keep Your Step, set for release in Spring 2026 on limited-edition LP, CD, and digital formats.

This track started as a rough sketch back in the band’s early days, an idea they kept coming back to, refining and shaping until it finally clicked. From the very first bars, a strong funk imprint emerges, rooted in Afro-American culture and the rhythmic language of 60s Black music. A tight, driving groove leads the way, locking in with sharp songwriting, fat rounded basslines, punchy guitar stabs, and an instrumental interplay that feels organic.
The title, a nod to the godfather of soul James Brown, speaks to the deep DNA connection between funk and Jamaican music, two worlds that have always fed off each other at reggae’s core. The choice to use the original spelling “Reggay”, as coined by Toots & The Maytals in the late ’60s, is a deliberate homage to the genre’s pioneering era and its raw expressive purity.

The single comes with an official video: hop in and hit the road with us as we follow the band on their trip to deliver their freshly pressed vinyl. The Appetizers are a rock steady and early reggae band born in Milan in 2020, brought together by a crew of musicians who’ve been deep in the Italian and international reggae scene for years. Different paths, shared vision: recreating that vintage Caribbean and American sound with authenticity, respect, and a forward-thinking edge.
Drawing inspiration from Jamaica’s golden era, channeling the soul of Delroy Wilson, Alton Ellis, the early Wailers and The Upsetters. The Appetizers carry forward the essence of bass culture with a pure, fully organic approach.
Their debut album Listen Up! (2022), released via Belgian imprint Badasonic Records (home to The Slackers, The Aggrolites, David Hillyard and Victor Rice), featured ten original tracks and a dub cut by Victor Rice. Distributed across Europe, the UK, the US and Japan, it quickly earned international recognition among reggae connoisseurs and selectors worldwide.
Following extensive touring, including shows with The Slackers, Black Uhuru, Skip Marley and more, the band returned to the studio to record “Keep Your Step”, their second album produced by Killer Groove Records. Here the band expands its musical language, weaving together the spirit of historic Jamaican labels like Studio One and Treasure Isle with ’60s funk, arriving at a warm, organic and timeless sound: soul, Jamaican roots and modern sensibility in perfect balance. Their lyrics speak to heartbreak, social issues, and reflections on life and music, performed with dedication and respect for tradition, while always pushing forward.

“Cacopoulos” marks the birth of Atabasca’s sonic universe: the first glimpse of their self-titled debut album, due in spring 2026 on limited-edition LP, CD, and digital formats.
From the first beat, listeners are drawn into a dry, dusty landscape driven by a primal drum groove and the acid twang of a guitar that evokes the spirit of classic Westerns. It’s an impetuous, visionary ride that fuses the power of instrumental groove with the evocative imagery of library music and Italian golden-age soundtracks. Indeed, “Cacopoulos” pays homage to I Quattro dell’Ave Maria (Ace High) and to the legendary Eli Wallach, the sly outlaw who turns deception into revenge. A subtle yet powerful nod that ties the trio’s sound to an imagery steeped in dust, dreams, and redemption.

The single drops with an official video: a psychedelic Western journey into the protagonist’s mind, charting a chase between him and the light. Shot entirely on Super 8 film, the video explores the thin line between reality and perception in a suspended, hallucinatory atmosphere. The video is directed by Marco Mazzone, with cinematography by Claudia Sicuranza. Both based in Rome.

Like a desert blooming within the evergreen forests of the planet’s far north, a unique, alien, disruptive environment. This is the vision behind Atabasca, the project of Luca Mongia (guitars, lap steel, keyboards, vocals), Paolo Mazziotti (bass, keyboards, vocals) and Valerio Pompei (drums, percussion, vocals). Individually active for over twenty years on both the national and international scenes, the three musicians came together in 2023 to create a project that merges experience, experimentation, and creative freedom. Their music is imaginative and at times dreamlike, blending the classic concept of the instrumental trio with the worlds of film scoring and sound design. Atabasca’s sound moves through jazz-funk, world, and cinematic territories, weaving together afrobeat, desert, and psychedelic influences into a personal and timeless language. Each piece is a scene; each sound, a fragment of a world, a journey between reality and imagination where groove, texture, and organic timbre merge into a singular sonic ecosystem: a perpetually shifting balance that generates new inner landscapes.
